Privacy and cookie policy
Last updated 21 October 2026.
In short
- We use no cookies, no analytics and no ads.
- We never ask for your name, e-mail or an account. There are no forms on the site.
- If you use “Near me”, your location stays in your browser. It is never sent to us.
- The messages come from the authorities. We show no addresses, and searches for missing people are removed once they are over.
Who is the data controller?
Advarselslisten is an independent project run by a private individual. Questions about privacy, corrections and removal can be sent to support@blaljuslistan.se.
When you visit the site
The site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. Incidents are loaded from Google Firestore (data centre in Finland), and the map from OpenFreeMap via Cloudflare's network, but only when you open it. As with any website, these services see your IP address and your browser's technical details in order to deliver the content, and may keep them briefly in their operating logs. We don't use this information to recognise you, and we collect no visitor statistics.
The site's font is served from our own server. If you open the map, it loads its lettering, icons and map tiles from OpenFreeMap.
Cookies and local storage
The site sets no cookies. If you switch between the light and dark theme with the button at the top, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage (“localStorage”) as vl-theme. That only happens because you choose it, and it is never sent to us. To remove it, choose “match device” again or clear the site's data in your browser.
“Near me” uses your browser's location access, which you have to allow yourself. The position is rounded to about 100 metres, used only in your browser to filter the list and – if the map is open – to zoom the map to your area, and it is never stored. When the map zooms in, it loads map tiles for that area from OpenFreeMap, which can therefore see which area you are looking at.
Advertising
There are no ads on the site today. If we start showing ads, we will update this page first, and advertising cookies will only be set if you consent.
Personal data in the authorities' messages
Messages from the police and the fire services can contain personal data, such as the age and town in a search for a missing person. We show them based on a legitimate interest in making public safety information easier to find (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), and we limit them:
- only what the authorities themselves have published – we add nothing;
- no addresses: if a police headline names an address, we show a neutral title;
- no photos and no page per incident for search engines to find;
- missing-person searches are removed when the police report the person found, and at the latest 72 hours after the police's last update;
- the site shows only the last 30 days, and our figures per municipality count incidents only – without any text.
Older messages are no longer shown. We keep them in an internal archive without public access to run the service (for example to check the sources and count incidents). We are setting a fixed deletion period for the archive and will state it here once it is in place.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and erase information about you, and you can object to us showing it (Articles 15–17 and 21). Write to support@blaljuslistan.se and we will reply as soon as we can. Information from the police should also be reported to the police so it is corrected at the source. You can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency: www.datatilsynet.dk.
Changes
If we change how the site handles information, we update this page and the date at the top.
